Perth is the capitol city of Western Australia and has so much to offer to its visitors.  Everything a big city can offer you will find in Perth, including fine dining, world-class entertainment, excellent art galleries and museums, a thriving music and theater arts scene, and lively night life.  There are many festivals and sporting events that abound throughout the year.  You can wander through the city’s many picturesque parks, hang out along the edge of Swan River, or indulge in numerous shopping opportunities, all within the city limits.  If you want to relax away from the bustling city life, head out to one of many pristine white-sand beaches that line the Western Australian coast, just minutes from the city center.

If you can’t get enough of the beaches and idyllic coastal scenery, you’ll have plenty to do in Western Australia.  Just a ferry ride away from Perth you can reach Rottnest Island, a car-free (and care-free) place with spectacular beaches to enjoy.  Southeast of Perth you can find Esperance, another coastal town boasting several national parks and pristine white-sand beaches.  Heading north you’ll arrive to Monkey Mia, a very popular destination featuring a unique opportunity to interact with bottlenose dolphins swimming onto the shoreline. Ningaloo Reef, north of Monkey Mia, has great opportunities to scubadive with whale sharks, color tropical fish, or just snorkel around the spectacular fringing reef.  These are just a few highlights of the numerous opportunities to enjoy the Western Australia coastline.

For those who enjoy a more rugged nature experience, there are numerous national parks, most notably Kirijini National Park in the northern part of the state, and North Australia’s Golden Outback will exceed your expectations, featuring amazing vibrantly colored wildflowers carpeting the landscape.  Stunning ancient rock formations and inspiring rugged landscapes await visitors in the Kimberly, a vast expanse of land in the northernmost part of the state.

Western Australia is worthy to be explored all on its own.  Certainly an Australia vacation package with an extended itinerary that includes the entire country would allow you to experience the wonders of Western Australia and how it contrasts with the rest of the country.  But a vacation to Western Australia would be complete on its own, and you may not necessarily be missing what the other parts of Australia have to offer.
