Royal Holiday Club is a timeshare company that is based in Mexico. They have two different types of timeshare programs, a weeks membership and a points membership. Both of these types of membership are right to use rather than deeded and right now I believe most of the expiration dates are in the 2020′s. My current points membership expires in 2028, so I have another 18 years use out of it and then it reverts back to Royal Holiday Club and I’ll have no more maintenance fees to pay.

For the weeks membership, owners usually own a fixed or floating week at one of the resorts that’s owned and managed by Royal Holiday. These tend to be located in Mexico or the Carribbean. You can also use these weeks to trade in Royal Holiday’s internal system so you’ll be able to still visit places like New York City or Paris, one of the major advantages of owning RHC.

The points program is sort of like Worldmark’s points program. The points do not have a deed underlying them, they are just points. You can use them at any Royal Holiday timeshare or at any of the resorts or hotels that they have lease arrangements with — this is how you are able to exchange RHC points for stays in London, Paris and New York City. Most of those locations are not actually timeshare properties, but they are very nice hotels and using RHC points or weeks to book your stay is much cheaper than paying with cash.

Of course, in order to book stays at the most desirable locations, you really need to make your plans at almost a year in advance. I have gotten lucky with New York occasionally and been able to book a stay at least than six months out, but that is not going to happen all the time. So if you want to use your Royal Holiday membership for big city savings, then be sure you are able to plan your trip well in advance of your travel dates.
